Anti-Matter Shields

A Hemmoian invention inspired by AM weapons, Anti-Matter Shields generate a field of zero matter around a vessel. Upon contact with matter, the matter and zero matter cancel each other out, rendering the projectile into a hole in the shield, which is then instantly filled by the shield regeneration mechanisms. HFed AM shields also provide shielding against energy weapon fire with a separate shielding unit working together with the primary zero matter field generator.

Note that while the principle of zeromatter particle annihilation is similar to anti-matter, AM shields do not in fact use anti-matter despite their name.

History

The first mass produced starship class to employ AM shielding was the Aikon Mk.III class heavy cruiser.
