Jump to navigationJump to searchA tachyon is any particle that travels at superluminal velocity (faster than light).
Many strange properties have been attributed to tachyons. In the language of the theory of special relativity, a tachyon is a particle with space-like four-momentum. A tachyon is constrained to the space-like portion of the energy-momentum graph. Therefore, it can never slow to light speed or below. Curiously, as its energy decreases, its velocity increases.
Forms of tachyonic matter include imaginary matter.
