Also known as Delta Orionis and Mintaka A, Mintaka is a blue sub-giant, central component of the Delta Orionis system. It has a dimmer, but bigger companion (Delta Orionis B) as well as two other inconsiderable partners.
The name is of human origin and means "belt".
