Spectrum

A spectrum contains the frequency content of, for example, a signal or light. When used to depict the frequency content of light it is an image of light (an electromagnetic wave) broken up into its component frequencies, appearing as a rainbow of colors corresponding to the various frequencies. The study of spectra is known as spectroscopy.
