White dwarf
From Peace Station Encyclopedia
(Redirected from White dwarfs)
Jump to navigationJump to searchA white dwarf is a small, very dense, hot
star that is made mostly of carbon. These
faint stars are what remains after a red giant star loses its outer layers, their
nuclear cores depleted. They are about the
size of a standard planet (but
tremendously heavier). Eventually, they
will lose their heat and become a cold,
dark black dwarf.
White dwarfs fall under spectral classification D.
