History
Colonization
It is unclear when Bacterius was first colonized by Bacterians entering from the Bacterian Home Galaxy through an Inter-Galactic Gate. Some structures on the planet appear to be hundreds of thousands of years old - and some even older than that - but it is possible they were brought to the planet with the Bacterian fleets when they first arrived. Some historians have also suggested some of the ruins and mechanisms found on the planet belong to an older precursor civilization.
In any case, Bacterian civilization appears to have existed on the world for a considerable time - no less than 5000 years, based on timeframe estimates derived from other Bacterian worlds, colonized in the Second Void Expurgation.
Command World of the Empire
Anecdotal evidence suggests that the Court of Bacterium, the highest ruling organ of the Bacterian Empire, was moved from the Bacterian Home Galaxy to Bacterius in the Gamma Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy by an unknown Emperor around 2500 years ago.
Occupation by the Gigerdi Alliance
During the so-called Gigerdian-Bacterian War, the Bacterian command world was bombed, invaded, and occupied by the Gigerdian Armed Forces under the direction of Gen. Worser. The entire Bacterian Empire was declared to be under martial law and all Bacterians were urged to immediately return to Bacterian space. The Gigerdians placed massive occupational forces on all major Bacterian colony worlds, and in months the entire Empire was completely stripped of its former glory, its people servants of the Gigerdi Alliance.
The Bacterian presence in the Milky Way Galaxy never quite recovered from the Gigerdian-Bacterian War. Although the Gigerdian occupation gradually ended later that year, they kept a close watch of the Empire to make sure future conflicts like the Daglian Conflict could be avoided.
Reconstruction
The orbital bombing during the GA-BE war left the surface of the world scarred with enormous craters. Many of these were used to house the foundations of new cities, such as Trebia, which now houses the headquarters of the Inter-Stellar Alliance.
