Barghest

Barghest, also known as "Crazy Barghest", is an Orc with a colorful history.

During the early expansionist era of the United Orcs, Barghest became one of the Royal Space Administration volunteers for experiments with interdimensional travel. He was among the hundreds of explorers sent to chart the Portal Dimension, an extradimensional realm beyond subspace. Like many others, Barghest never returned and was presumed lost forever in the dimension's nightmarish fractal hell.

However, unknown to the RSA, Barghest had in fact emerged back in realspace on the other side of the Milky Way Core, in the Beta Quadrant. He quickly discovered the various civilizations of the Beta Quadrant Free Zone, eventually ending up on the Dremole Station, where he used his RSA spaceman training to became an used starship salesman. Barghests' Mad Starship Boutique quickly became known for the best deals in the Dremole sector. As such, Barghest actually established relations between the Gigerdians and the UO well before the HemmoCruiser Incident, but since no-one knew where he had came from, he was simply considered a lone curiosity. To make matters worse, he was also barking mad.

It is unclear as to whether his craziness was a result of his experiences in the Portal Dimension, or if he had been crazy to begin with. The latter is likely, however, considering the high failure rate of early interdimensional exploration missions.
