ESO 137-001

Jump to navigationJump to searchA distant galaxy, ESO 137-001 is apparently plummeting through the center of galaxy cluster Abell 3627 at a speed of 7,2 million kilometers per hour. At the same time, the pressure from hot intergalactic gas strips matter away from the galaxy. New massive stars are forming in these outflows of gas.
