NGC 3190
From Peace Station Encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to searchA barred spiral galaxy, NGC 3190 is part of the Hickson Compact Group 44. Lurking at its heart is an active galactic nucleus (AGN), home to a super-massive black hole. The galaxy was the site of two Type Ia supernovae in recent history. The gravitational interaction with nearby NGC 3187 may be the root cause.
