Space Pope

The Space Pope is an originally human religious leader of a long-forgotten Earth religion hailing possibly from the planet's "middle ages" to the late 22nd century. Currently he is regarded as the icon of a large intergalactic religious cult formed around his supposed holiness. This religious faction is known as the Cult of the Space Pope.

The exact method on how one is elected as the space pope is completely unknown. It is believed, however, that the candidates are selected from the inner ranks of the cult. The cult has special offices and sanctuaries located on many worlds, but it is unknown to the general public where exactly does the space pope reside.

The Space Pope has also been known to be equipped with a special cloak and cap known to have the ability to block cosmic radiation. And red melting lasers. The special cloak is just one of the many interesting gadgets awarded to the person chosen to the position of the Space Pope.

Space popes through the ages

  One of the former popes was apparently some sort of an extremely hairy man-ape. Or then the fellow just had Werewolf syndrome.

  At one time a mindless and emotionally dead robot was selected as the Space Pope. The cultists seemed to be fine with it, though.

  An egotistical human, with a severe case of the superhero-syndrome was also once selected as the Space Pope. The results were somewhat disastrous. And vain.
