Borer rounds
A special bullet technology invented by UOAF Research & Development, borer rounds (also known as drilltip rounds) were explosive anti-personnel slugs equipped with automated drilltips designed for maximum penetration into enemy infantry. Upon contact with flesh, the rounds would activate and bore straight into the target body, causing massive internal hemorrhages. The round would then detonate after a set time period to ensure total incapacitation of enemy combatants.
The type of rounds were outlawed by the United Orcs in the Delta Quadrant after the V3 War as needlessly cruel and in violation of common conventions. Despite the end of mass production, they may still be found in the arsenals of bounty hunters, pirates, mercenaries and other individuals operating beyond the law. Non-explosive variations have also been known to be used as torture devices.
