An iron-grey lustrous metal. It is malleable, and oxidises very readily at room temperature, expecially in moist air. Cerium is very reactive. It slowly decomposes in cold water and rapidly in hot water. The pure metal may ignite when scratched with a knife. The peculiar properties of cerium are useful for various purposes, including metallurgical and nuclear applications. Found on Texian planets.
