Chicken
Chickens are small, largely flightless birds with brown feathers and brilliant red plumage around their head regions, hailing from planet Earth. As omnivores, chicken spend their days roosting near the ground protecting their clutch of eggs. As creatures they are fairly unremarkable and as comestibles they taste pretty much like everything else.
Chickens are a Human-domesticated fowl, specifically a subspecies of the Red Junglefowl, Gallus gallus. As one of the most common and widespread domestic animals, there are more chickens in space than any other species of bird and they are second only to Bos Taurus as the most pervasive non-sapient species known. Humans keep chickens primarily as a source of food, consuming both their meat and their eggs. They have inspired contributions to Human culture, art, cuisine, science and religion from antiquity to the present.
