Communications laser

A communications laser is a laser emitter built for data transmission purposes. In outer space, the communication range of free-space optical communication allows for inter-satellite service and orbital comms. It is also possible to construct systems bridging interplanetary distances of millions of kilometers, using optical telescopes as beam expanders, but these communication methods are limited by the speed of light.
