D-800 Planetary Transport

The D-800 Planetary Transport is a modified heavy duty version of DHyper's Model D8 "Denetel" hovercraft vehicles. D-800's were not manufactured by DHyper Corp. itself; the line was an "unofficial" refit using original D-class components.

The primary upgrade of the D-800 was the improved dual MGD gas ionization engines which allowed a top speed of 500 units, almost twice as much as the original D8 Denetel.

With a pressurized and fully sealed cabin, the vehicle could be safely operated in most planetary atmospheres, but not in hard vacuum or low-pressure/density atmospheric conditions as lift was supplied by excited gas particles. With normal settings, the D-800 had no armor, but further additional shield generator modifications were possible, and the 48E Attack Vehicle's armortypes could be adapted for use in the D-800.

A large craft, the D-800 required two pilots. Operational capability could be reached with just one, with a computer handling the co-pilot's functions, but with reduced performance. The craft had a maximum crew of 25, slightly more for versions modified to suit other species.
