D-9-YK Anomaly

The D-9-YK Anomaly was a bizarre spatial anomaly discovered by the crew of the IHSF Borlange in the Rukbat system.

As the Borlange approached an asteroid on a peculiar trajectory and its surrounding debris field, the starship simply blinked out of existence — only to reappear some quasiquarts later.

Science Officer Bufghen reported that they found themselves, briefly, in some extra-dimensional space. External viewports revealed that they were surrounded by countless other ships of alien design, suspended in a seemingly endless void.

Before the crew could get their bearings, the vision abruptly faded and they found themselves back in regular space.

However, roughly half of the crew were missing. Science Officer Bufghen speculated that they may have been trapped, by some unknowable mechanism, in that strange space.
