Dragonium

A common starship fuel in the Gigerdi Alliance, dragonium ore can be found on many planets and asteroids in the beta and alpha quadrants. Somehow, it functions as a fusion catalyst; perhaps facilitating hydrogen purification.

The Dragonium ore was first discovered in an asteroid field in the Adironak system where a special mining station was set up to retrieve it. The Texian hive had discovered the Dragonium ore well before the Gigerdians did; since the first contact with these two species had only been established at a relatively late time the ore was largely unknown to most of the other races.
