The Federation class atmospheric bomber is primarily used in planetary atmospheres, but it is capable of engaging enemy forces in low orbit should the need arise. Their production began during the Lightness War, where their role was colony protection along with the Ulysses class fighters. During the course of the war, this combination proved to be a highly effective aerospace defense against planetary bombing runs.

The Federation class is slower and less maneuverable than the Ulysses class, but packs more firepower. Unfortunately, its explosive payload is somewhat limited, so it has a constant need of rearming during combat, which limits its effectiveness.

The Federation class is the primary atmospheric bomber in the GA military.
