The garrison of the Tetmus colony was the spot for a bloody confrontation between Gigerdi Federation forces and Timocracy boarding troops for several days during the Timocracy war. The GAS Garrison of Tetmus was one of the first Hauler Mk. II-class vessels to roll out of the assembly line, so the battle on Tetmus was still in good memory with the officials put in charge of naming the transport vessels.
