Hemmoian adages
A list of common Hemmoian adages and sayings.
Political
"Join us or we will join you."
Transcribed Hemmoian Standard: "Porreekizker eel korjilreekiper."
This ancient Hemmoian saying dates back to prehistory. Seemingly nonsensical at first glance, it carries with it a teaching of the primitive-collectivist Hemmoian cultures of old - the needs of the mycelium outweigh the needs of individuals. This philosophy is reflected even in modern Hemmoian societies.
Due to the peculiarities of Hemmoian language, the meaning of the phrase can also be slightly different. When presented in the accusative, the meaning changes into "Join us or we will join you" where the last "join" takes the meaning of "join you into us". Many political satirists, especially from anti-collectivist tendencies, have used this wordplay to describe the current policies of the Great Council of the Hemmoian Federation.
Greetings
"Greetings to you and your allies."
Transcribed Hemmoian Standard (singular): "Kaamu zig kaaz udevnikimuur seäthgeer."
Transcribed Hemmoian Standard (plural): "Rikkaamu zig rikkaaz udevnikimuur seäthgeer."
A common Hemmoian greeting, the phrase reflects the common Hemmoian idea no social actor, be it an individual or a larger group, exists on its own but is rather the sum of internal and external relations and ongoing social processes.
Exclamations
"In the SID's name!"
Many varieties of this exist, all revolving around the ancient philosopher of lore, The Great SID, and his book, The 24 Pyramids. Many Hemmoians revere The SID as a great thinker, the originator of modern Hemmoian thought. The uses are diverse, ranging from the short "By SID!" to "What in the name of SID?", and as replacement for expletives "What the SID is going on here?"
Jokes
"How many Gigerdians does it take to change a lightbulb?"
Transcribed Hemmoian Standard: "Zïmeetheihat jikweeth nui-tiemir asuultitir tsorrothike?"
The common answer to this is "11 billion. One holds the lightbulb and 10 999 999 999 rotate the planet." Although its origins are unclear, the saying started spreading after the UO-GF First Contact at the end of the First Bacterian War.
