Hermunda system

The early colonization efforts of the entire Hermunda system had been done largely by private Gigerdian companies in the first two centuries following the formation of the Gigerdi Federation's colonial expansion. The worlds there were first thought of containing large amounts of valuable minerals, but soon these hopes were vanguished upon the discovery of absolutely no valuable minerals whatsoever. The colonies there remained independent, up until the Secession War, when the system accepted an annexation to the Gigerdi Confederation in exchange for financial and military aid. After the unification of the Gigerdian states, Hermunda also followed suit by staying as a member of the Gigerdi Alliance.
