History of the Lihters

Violent Times
Lihters used to be very emotional, brutal and violent in their ancient days. They responded very emotionally in everything, which caused a lot of problems among them. They had troubles keeping even smaller communities together and their population growth was very small due to some many of them dying, usually killed by another Lihter.
It was almost a miracle that the Lihters actually managed to build their towns centuries later. Some Lihters had acknowledged the problems within them, unfortunately those people usually had to settle to the life of an exile.
Fortunate for the Lihters, they managed to somewhat co-exist with each other in the following centuries. Entire nations were formed with varying forms of government. These nations sometimes fought against each other or existed in relative peace while doing trade. Over the centuries their technology also improved, but space travel was still something that wouldn't be invented for a long time. Improved weaponry was something that disturbed certain Lihters, considering their past, but things seemed to go relatively peacefully, with no worldwide wars.
Finally, in year XXXX the situation escalated into much bigger. Things had been heating up with many of the major Lihter nations and things weren't looking good. Some realized that war was coming, but a much bigger this time. The wisest of Lihters managed to escape their homes before it begun.
World War
- Main Article: World War
The World War soon begun among Lihters, although only among few nations at first. But they were able to convince almost all the other nations along and the biggest war in the specie's history had begun. At first it started like all their other wars had begun, but since nuclear weaponry had already been developed it was just a matter of time before they were to be used.
After few years of fruitless fighting, first nation launched it nuclear missiles, others soon following. It was a huge devastation, with most of the world being reduced to ashes. While their homeworld had always been more of a desert world, it was still devastated even more. The entire Lihter species was bombed to near extinction.
It would take centuries for them to rebuild their civilization and they were also unlucky not to have the aid of another species, something that the Humans had.
Times of Logic
It was bad times for the Lihters, many of their people lived in very bad conditions, kill or be killed atmosphere was dominant on their world. It was a hard time for the Lihters and it seemed that more of them died in the subsequent years than lived, making an entire extinction of a species possible.
But then, a new possibility rose up for their species. One of the Lihters in exile, INSERT NAME HERE, returned back to her people and started teaching about the dangers of emotions, that it would be wiser to let go of them and embrace logic. Many Lihters understood that it was their too strong emotions that had caused their recent war and that it would happen again if things were to continue the same way.
Not all saw her way as the right way though, some wanted to remain in their old ways. At first both groups lived together in relative peace. Missionaries left to other settlements to teach about the ways of the logic and in few decades the Lihter people had for the most part abandoned their emotional past. The Lihters seeking to live the life of the old days were banished from the settlements, considered as a too great a risk. They moved to abandoned cities and continued their lives there. From that day onward there were two different groups of Lihters living on their homeworld, although the ones following the path of logic were more united than the others. The logical Lihters formed the Lihter Federation.
The Lihters starved to thrive; their population increased and their technology became more advanced. Finally things started to look good for the Lihters, but still it was slow progress due to the devastation their world had endured.
It still took centuries to even get to the point where they had been before the war, but development beyond that point went much more effectively than before. It was clear that this was the right path.
The other group of Lihters wasn't so successful. The ones who had continued the old ways in the end managed to kill themselves completely, until the last remaining ones either fled back to their previous homes and embraced their futures or simply died trying to remain in the old ways. Some very small groups and single hermits managed to survive and there are even to the present day some Lihters who still embrace their emotions.
Space Travel
Lihters had rather little interest in expansion, although it was viewed relatively necessary due to the growing numbers. Exploring and researching space on the other hand was something that Lihters were very interested in.
Researching the necessary technology wasn't a difficult task either and Lihters invented the required technology faster than most species. They were rather slow when it came to expansion and it took them rather long time to colonize their own solar system.
Their exploration pace was still fast and efficient and they explored significantly larger areas than they actually colonized. Outposts and supply colonies were still necessary in order to explore further so there was constant expansion too.
Humans were the first race the Lihters established connection to and the first contact went rather well. Obviously there was language problems at first, but they were settled fast on Lihters' side and proper communication was established. Humans were slightly skeptical about another alien race, but were enough convinced that they were peaceful enough. Lihters also established connection to the Q<RE-Ôs.
It was a time of relative peace as there were only minor quarrels among the races. The next race the Lihters encountered wasn't so friendly one, as it was the V'As'Ta'Rs and a minor war broke out, but it was handled by the superior technology of the Lihters. Still they viewed it as unnecessary bloodshed that should be avoided.
The next major first contact came to the 1110110110101111s which were very similar to the Lihters due to them following logic too and their interest in technology. They quickly became interested in trading technology and working together to research it, however, they also introduced the Opiros which were much more aggressive race and even threatened to attack the Lihters for a short time, but the support from the 1110110110101111s made them reconsider their words.
Lihters viewed the ongoing relations between the races as rather positive, but there was obviously much to improve on. The B² contact later was another very positive one.

After the V'As'Ta'R-Opiro conflict the Q<RE-Ôs suggested that a unified alliance would be formed between all the races in the region. Lihters viewed it as a good idea that would bring stability to the region as well as improved defenses against other potential threats. The 1110110110101111s shared the Lihters' views and supported the project. Together they managed to convince all other races except V'As'Ta'Rs and the alliance was formed.
