Lalande 21185, often abbreviated as LAL 21185, is the central star of the Lalande 21185 system. Also known as Gliese 411, it is a red dwarf star approximately 8 light-years from Sol in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, moving at a relatively high velocity in an orbit perpendicular to the galactic plane. The star is also a variable flare star that sometimes increases in brightness.
