The Medusa mk.II bomber is an upgraded version of the
Medusa bomber, which never entered active service. The Mk.II version was designed before the Lightness War to act
as the primary heavy bomber in the GA military. During the
Lightness War, the Medusa mk.II was in a high position as
the need for heavy bombers was dire. Along the course of
the war, the bombers were upgraded several times to ensure
their superiority.
They are among the fastest and most maneuverable bombers
in the GA fleets, which makes them extremely deadly and
suitable to a wide range of missions. While their two turrets give them a very wide firing arc, they usually rely on other, more agile fighters for fire support in combat situations.
After the Lightness War, the bomber's power generation
systems were revamped, which allows them to mount a
deadly Fusion Turret, which further increases their
efficiency. Also, whereas the previous Medusa mk.IIs could
only carry two primary weapons, the enhanced versions
can be equipped with three.
Nearly all Medusa Mk.IIs in active service today are
equipped with a fusion cannon, and some might even pack
one of the new plasma cannons.
It is possible that a next generation of Medusa bombers is
currently being developed by the GA.
