NGC 1617

Jump to navigationJump to searchNGC 1617 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 50 million light years away. The galaxy has a relatively low surface brightness of 23.1 mag/arcsec. The spiral arms are tightly wound but not very well defined possibly indicating transition to Lenticular. There are a number of prominent dust lanes throughout the galaxy.
