Planetary nebulae

Jump to navigationJump to searchThese nebulae are the outer envelopes of dying main sequence stars that have recently been cast away to space, leaving behind a core fading to become a white dwarf. The outer layers of the star often form complex and beautiful structures around the intensely hot core. Planetary nebulae are very common objects.
