Plasma Storm Generator

The Plasma Storm Generator was a work-in-progress of the Gigerdi alliance military R&D division at the time of the Beta Quadrant Conflict (GA-IPA war). The generator was supposed to somehow summon a furious and powerful plasma storm where-ever it was placed. The generator was the idea of Admiral Vorex , a well known designer of faulty ships and equipment.

Grand Admiral Erwin Lerev decided to use the incomplete Plasma Storm generator against the IPA's homeworld of Inster by luring it inside the planet's atmosphere. Three of the top secret Rubek's cube class Medium Commando Cruisers were meant to be used in the hit-and-run operation. This black op took place only days before the peace treaty was signed between the Inter-Stellar alliance and the Interplanetary alliance along with it's allies. This co-op between the GA military and the Section 18 is known as "Operation Eye Of The Storm".

As the GA strike team reached Inster and actually managed to lure one of the cloaked Rubek's cube class cruisers inside the planetary shield , the actual plan failed miserably; as the GA vessel decloaked to drop the generator , the planetary defence grid noticed the intruder and started to blast away. To make matters worse , the Plasma Storm Generator didn't work as expected when dropped into the planet's atmosphere; quite possibly the prototype was somehow incomplete and didn't activate itself at the designated time and place. As one of the cruisers was destroyed the two remaining ones quickly escaped.
