Radar

A radar is any active sensor system using pulsed waves to detect the position of objects by measuring the time a single pulse takes to reach the object and be reflected back.

The name comes from radio waves, which were originally used for this purpose, but radar technology has since expanded to use a wide range of electromagnetic radiation, such as microwaves. With the discovery of subspace, subspace radars employing subspace waves have become more common as they allow for detection of masses at superluminal speeds and very long ranges.
