Found in the crust of some worlds, rubidium is a soft, silvery-white metallic element. It ignites spontaneosly in air and reacts violently in water, setting fire to the liberated hydrogen. Because rubidium can be easily ionized, it can be used in Ion Engines for spacecraft; however, cesium is somewhat more efficient for this purpose.
