Sub-Fleet
The basic component of IHSF armadas, a Sub-Fleet consists of four to five capital warships and optional smaller support craft. One of the capital ships is usually assigned a "command vessel" that relays orders to the rest of the sub-fleet, with a higher ranking officer on the bridge. Sometimes this command vessel is a separate, fifth starship.
Unlike GA Battle Groups, sub-fleets are not permanent in any way and are often quickly reorganized from engagement to engagement - sometimes even in the middle of combat action.
Security fleets
Subfleet units are used extensively as security fleets for colonies of the Hemmoian Federation, a practice that began in the Lightness War and extended to all civilian colonies during the Hemmoian Civil War.
Unlike subfleets established for immediate space combat action, security subfleets are usually more permanent and only restructured if reinforcements are needed.
