Talk:Light energy torpedoes

From Peace Station Encyclopedia

The description here says that these torpedoes are used by "Gigerdians in smaller ships, like runabouts or Ventures". Well, something tells me that it ain't right, mainly because those vessels aren't Gigerdian no matter what anybody says. I think we've got a slight error here. I think those things ships belong to the UFP.

And what the fuck are these Ventures, anyway ?

don't ask me ...

I just got this from GANN, under "Gigerdian technology".

P.S. "Light energy torpedo makes 250 damage to shields and hull."

Then it must be some of that obsolete crap.

OK, I should've known that this stuff came from that steaming pile o' Star Trek references. Anyway, I'm going to edit it for a bit, since obviously the GA doesn't utilize craft like that at all. And they're from freakin' Star Trek, o'right ? Just can't keep this sort of thing going on for the sake of originality.

I would unwise using the GANN's technology section, as it has some of the oldest data and I haven't, obviously, bothered to clean it up yet.

On the damage side some kind of collective damage table, as how much damage what weapon does to what, might be useful in comparing them and how they've improved over the years. If that is somehow possible to do.

damage table

I guess you could have one in megatons, although this represents problems with more exotic weapons that obviously don't rely on explosive power. An absolute "unit of damage" sounds pretty unrealistic when you consider the number of mechanisms for starship weapons in the universe and the fact that they're countered by different types of shields, all based on different principles.

On that note, "phased shields", "anti-matter shields", "molecular shields" etc. special shield technology is a pretty hazy area of the universe that hasn't been clearly defined. Which shield counters which weapon? All the physics behind it is bollocks so I can't exactly look it up in a textbook either.
