Spectral class: G8 yellow
A class G star, also known as Gliese 71, Tau Ceti resembles several other nearby stars, such as 70 Ophiuchi A. Stars in this luminosity range can support garden worlds for a long time, because of their slower evolution. Judging from its spectrum, Tau Ceti is a moderately old star, and somewhat (but not dramatically) deficient in heavy elements.
