Type S0 galaxy

Galaxies between an elliptical and a spiral. They are objects with a bulge and disk, but little or no star formation, dust, or gas. Many genuine S0 galaxies have been recognized, and understanding their origin promises to tell us much about the history and development of galaxies in general.
