A type of cylindrical docking airlock, the universal docking collar (UDC) uses magnetic clamps to form an strong, airtight seal with any vessel no matter what type or condition the ship or its docking equipment is in. If a ship is damaged, a UDC-equipped vessel can attach itself to the damaged ships' hull and simply cut a hole to form a new access way.

UDCs are typically found aboard salvage vessels.
