An unusual variable star located on the periphery of the Galaxy. It has a history of violent eruption, increasing in brightness temporarily to become 600,000 times brighter than a main sequence dwarf, sending light echoes resonating through the surrounding dust. The reason for this eruption is unclear; the star may have consumed three gas giants that orbited it in its past.
