Weapons officer

In starships that have a weapons department, a weapons officer (also known as a combat systems officer) is the department head. The officer is responsible for the supervision and direction of the ship's combat systems, including ordnance equipment.

Assistants to the weapons officer may include the first lieutenant, missile officer, gunnery officer, ordnance officer, Space Marine detachment officer, fire-control officer, electronics material officer, tactical data system maintenance officer, systems test officer and department training assistant.
