HiberChamber
A HiberChamber is a popular Hemmoian device for storing the user's body while the mind stays connected to the Collective's virtual environments. It is specifically designed to avoid problems such as muscular atrophy commonly involved in excessive virtual reality use. Technically, the mind can stay connected forever, although it must change bodies at some point to avoid death due to old age.
Permanent living in HiberChambers is common among Administrators, Operators, Moderators and other functionaries of the Collective, as well as people recovering from diseases or surgical operations, hackers, anti-realists, and similar hardcore VR users. The units also offer a cheap alternative to buying an apartment on many worlds plagued by poverty and overpopulation.
