A relatively short conflict between the Bacterian Empire and the Hemmoian Federation during the late Peace Station Era.

Background
While the Peace Station Era was not a time without conflict for the Bacterian Empire, no large scale wars erupted (at least in this galaxy; the events in the Bacterian Home Galaxy, naturally, remain a mystery). But as the Peace Station Project was about to get closed down, and members of the Bakteeri family had once again infiltrated the workings of the Bacterian Government, the Empire's prolonged age of peace was about to end. About a year before the official abandoning of the Peace Station, the Empire had gathered a tremendous attack fleet in secret Imperial Navy installations. This fleet was now ready to be deployed in a full frontal assault against an enemy starpower. The target of choice was again the United Orcs, an old enemy of the Empire - only this time the union was named the Hemmoian Federation. The Second Bacterian War had been set in motion.
The Extermination Campaign
The strategy of choice for the Empire was to mobilize the Imperial Bacterian XIII Purification Fleet Legion of Sorrow, jump into the target system, hit hard, hit fast, and eliminate all resistance. Much like in the First Bacterian War, HFed colonies were lost one by one to the unstoppable force of Bacterian vessels that disappeared into the shadows before any colonial defenses could reach them, leaving behind nothing but carnage.
While this was brutally effective when engaging younger, less influental civilizations, it eventually proved to be a grave error when applied against a major galactic superpower. The Hemmoian Federation, caught off guard at first, lost several borderworlds in this way but soon gathered a defensive force of an equal strength to take care of the invaders.
The Slaughter of the Antimaniac System
This defense fleet was spearheaded by fleets of the Antimaniac Star Alliance who had recently joined the Federation. Unfortunately, the technology of their newest starships proved to be too primitive for modern space combat as their forces were quickly slaughtered by the Bacterians. In one of the worst tragedies of the Second Bacterian War, the Bacterians launched a retalitory strike against the young Star Alliance, destroying all life in the Antimaniac system. The only Antimaniacs who survived this mass-slaughter were those who were traveling outside the borders of their Star Alliance - This number was estimated to be less than one hundred beings.
Battle of Aldaain
As the Bacterian invasion force was suffering losses from the newly assembled IHSF fast-response defensive fleets, the Bacterian strategy changed. They retreated into interstellar space to regroup for a few days, and it was hoped that having met their match, they would cease their hostilities. But as their forces started moving again their intentions became crystal clear - the invasion fleet was heading directly towards Orbeus 6, the location of Aldaain.
In a gritty showdown between two superpowers, the IHSF fleet moved in defensive positions around their command world, while the entire Bacterian attack fleet "fell upon them like an endless black rain emerging from the jumpgates", as a Hemmoian fleet admiral described the scene. Both sides suffered heavy losses, and the surface of Aldaain was partially bombed to ruins, but the Hemmoians emerged from the conflict as winners.
Aftermath
With their entire attack fleet decimated, the Bacterian Empire was forced to call their campaign against the Federation off when the HFed government threatened to perform a full retaliatory strike on their command world of Bacterius.
The IHSF proved its worth in this conflict, managing to beat back the Bacterian aggressors and swiftly ending the war before it could properly start. Once considered an overwhelmingly superior force, the war showed the technological gap between the Bacterians and the rest of the Galaxy was no longer as wide as it used to be.
