Äitmik is the homeworld of the Öksy species and the origin of the Öksy Confederation. The planet is also referred to simply as the White Planet or the Öksy Homeworld. The name White Planet comes from the world's peculiar composition that gives it a white color. Although a carbon world, Äitmik is not characteristically covered in dark soot, but a fine white powder of diamond dust.
Planetary composition
Äitmik has a steel-rich core surrounded by a sphere of molten silicon carbide and titanium carbide. Above that, a layer of carbon in the form of graphite, and a kilometers-thick substratum of diamond. During volcanic eruptions, diamonds from the interior come up to the surface, resulting in mountains of diamonds and silicon carbides. The surface contains liquid hydrocarbon lakes and an atmosphere of carbon monoxide.
Communications
The White Planet is currently the location of the central node in the Öksy Terminal Network (ÖksyNET), an interstellar subspace network that links Öksy worlds with each other and the larger Collective Network.
