Atmosphere mining

Atmosphere mining is the process of "mining" a planetary atmosphere, often that of a gas giant, for useful gaseous resources such as hydrogen, used as a fusion fuel, or methane, used in Delta Quadrant breathing mixtures. Special atmospheric harvesting vessels are usually used for this purpose, although some spacecraft have the option of "wilderness refueling" through the use of magnetic ramscoops and similar devices.
