Mining is the extraction of mineral resources from an asteroid, planetoid, moon, planet or a similar body.

Includes the extraction of particular types of resource, such as carbon, ice, copper, iron, aluminium, silicon, uranium or dragonium. Various mining engineering methods are used, including nanites, underground tunnelling, and open-cut mining. Also important is knowledge about safety methods, demolitions, nanoreplicators, resource extraction and transportation, prospecting, miner living facilities (unless robotic), power supply, and environmental systems, geology, planetology, mass-drivers, and more.
