Chicago
Located somewhere in the Beta Quadrant, the planet Chicago started out as an early human colonization project. However, by the time the long range sleeper slowboats transporting the colonists arrived, centuries had passed on Earth and the project had been forgotten in the mists of time. Stranded on an alien planet, the Chicagoans were forced to rebuild their society from scratch.
By the time the second generation of colonists was born on the planet, much of the colony's origins had been forgotten by its populace, who were quickly reverting to a much earlier technology level, and liked to wear cowboy hats a lot.
The planet would eventually reach spacefaring capability again, and re-established contact and trade relations with various other independent system states and pirate groups in the Beta Quadrant No-Man's Land.
