Ensign (GA)

The rank of ensign is above Ensign, 2nd class and below 2nd Lieutenant in the GA Military. The rank of Ensign is also considered the last rank of "enlisted officers" with crew duties aboard a fleet vessel or a ground force contingent. The service members with the rank of Ensign usually serve in active duty positions in their own distinctive training fields - i.e. as communications crewmen, technicians or security officers. Ensigns are also usually qualified to lead a squad or a small group of other officers serving as either Cadets or 2nd Class Ensigns. An ensign can be, for an example, the group leader of a medical team or a boarding party.
