Friendship Station

Friendship Station (formerly LRST9081a) was a space station in the Peace Station system, acting as a refuel and resupply station for starships making the trip to and from the star system.

Being a standard Replenisher class refueling station, Friendship Station was in control of a vast network of collector arrays in orbit around the system primary, designed to collect enormous quantities of solar energy and raw material. These resources were then used to manufacture antimatter based fuel for starships, stations, and planets. The station itself orbited at a range of 0.4 AU, close enough for maximum energy collection, yet far enough to prevent destruction of the station. The actual collector arrays were located inside the star's outer atmosphere.

The process is fully automated, requiring no crew presence on the station. Crew quarters and life support are provided on some areas of the station, however, for the occasional command and maintenance crews visiting it.

History

Originally constructed by the United Orcs Royal Space Administration as a deep space refueling station servicing mining vessels, the station was known simply as LRST9081a, short for Long Range Supply Terminal.

With the Peace Station Project set in motion, a search for a suitable star system for the project was initiated. Since the Peace Station itself, designed for diplomatic affairs only, lacked proper refueling facilities for starships arriving from around the Galaxy, it was decided that the system housing the station would have to have a separate refueling depot.

Eventually the ZZZ system, a former UO mining outpost, was chosen, since it was close to the Galactic Core, away from the main body of all three major starpowers, and already had an automated refueling station in place.

The star system was declared a neutral territory under joint command, and the Peace Station Project assumed control of the refueling station as well. The station was renamed Friendship, as a kind of a twin for the Peace Station itself.

After the Project

While the Peace Station itself was abandoned, the Friendship Station, requiring no crew, remained active.
