Gigerdi Confederation Defence Forces

The Gigerdi Confederation Defence Forces were the main military force of the Gigerdi Confederation. It was officially disbanded after the Timocracy War, but during the war it waged a costly guerilla war against the Timocracy while sustaining heavy losses and towards the end of the conflict managed to go on the offensive against it and retake lost territories.

Overview of forces

As per Gigerdian tradition the defence forces had two service branches: Confederal fleet force and the Confederal Ground Forces, but often units and officers from both sides were deployed to support either operations.

The Defence Forces relied on conscription to fulfill its' staggering need of service personnel from the moment the state had been created, but luckily many citizens of the newly-created confederal state were willing to serve in many roles and the state even employed contracted personnel in exchange for a promised citizenship and a fixed position in the military forces eventually.

The motto of the forces was "DEFEND THE COLONIES!", which became a famous recruiting slogan pinned on leaflets and showed in thousands of holovisions in every street corner of the confederal worlds.

Confederal fleet force

The fleet force mainly consisted of older vessels of Gigerdian origin which had been organized under one fleet command and into the confederal 1st Fleet and the 2nd Fleet, which were both carrier task forces with escorts. Some smaller battle groups were spread around the confederal territories and especially during the Timocracy war they were ordered to commit hit-and-run raids and quick strikes and then to disappear as fast as possible.
