Grim Expurgation

The Grim Expurgation was a military campaign in the Bacterian Home Galaxy, led by Emperor Gracilibacillus XI against the "barbarian hordes" of the galaxy, namely the Hagourian Empire.

The Emperor led the campaign himself from aboard the BES Harmony of Dissonance, command vessel of the I Imperial Bacterian Elite Fleet Sword of the Emperor. He was killed when the starship was destroyed, effectively ending the Expurgation.

With the Emperor dead, the Sword of the Emperor fleet began a long journey back into the Milky Way Galaxy with BES Four Swords as its new flagship.

Once the fleet had made it back through the Sagittarius Gate, news of the Emperor's death reached the Bacterian colonies in the Gamma Quadrant. Well before the fleet could arrive at Bacterius, the Court of Bacterium had already been summoned to an extraordinary session to determine a successor to the Emperor.
