History

A proposed design for the primary hull. The final version followed a similar but more elongated shape.

Background

Even though HemmoCruiser I had failed in its mission to create peace, the re-organized UOSF was still positive in launching a ship that would visit every planet, uniting the fighting colonies. Two HemmoCruiser II class ships were built, but only one, UOSF HemmoCruiser IIa, was launched. The other, HC-IIb, remained in the shipyards and was launched at a later date. These were known as the Unity Flights.

The Unity Flights

HC-IIa succeeded in making contact with many colonies in the Orbeus Cluster, starting with Ollapukkiti Prime, but upon reaching V'romo space was attacked and damaged beyond repair. Contact with the vessel was lost, and it took twenty years to locate the wreckage on an uninhabited desert world in the Ytinret III system.

However, there's more to the story of the HC-II ships. HC-IIb, the sister ship, was launched soon after the first one and managed to contact a large number of colonies.

The third prototype

A third HC-II class vessel, HC-IIc, remained in UOSF shipyards and was never launched. When the Great Chaos was over, the ship was transported to a museum in Lucifer System. Countless of years later, during the Peace Station Era, the ship was repaired to a perfect condition again, and it was used for a time travel operation.

Armament

A defensive HC-II drone.

Although designed for peaceful missions, the HemmoCruiser II class was not unarmed. In addition to the two high powered energy weapons, the HC-IIa carried a squadron of independent drones, each equipped with a powerful nuclear plant and a laser emitter. The drones had rudimentary self-guidance systems, but no true artificial intelligence and had to be remotely controlled from the host starship. In total, the starship's hangars housed 15 drone units.

The third starship, although mostly finished, was never fitted with weaponry and had no drone complement.
