Magneto-Gravity Distortion
From Peace Station Encyclopedia
Jump to navigationJump to searchMagneto-Gravity Distortion (MGD) engines are a common means of hovercraft levitation, initially developed on Orceron. Refined versions of this technology are still in use in personal transporters all over the Galaxy.
Despite the name, MGD engines are not proper anti-gravity drives. The presence of a gaseous atmosphere is required for the engine to operate, as lift is created by excited gas particles. Because of this, MGD transports cannot function in hard vacuum or low-pressure environments.
