Sensor drone

Jump to navigationJump to searchA sensor drone is an independent drone spacecraft, equipped with a powerful sensor package - typically containing radar, lidar or sradar arrays. The data is relayed back to a mothership via tightbeam burst transmission.
A drone of this type can augment a starship's sensors, or act as the ship's primary sensor, thus effectively masking the source of active radar scans. This can be very useful in space combat, as active scans immediately reveal the location of your own vessel.
