Tooled Hemmo I is a densely populated urban/industrial colony of the Democratic Hemmoian Republic and a major historical Hemmoian cultural center. It is the former seat of government of the Independent Hypersentiences, which formed the basis of the Hemmoian Federation.

History
Colonization
Tooled Hemmo I was one of the first colonies established during the United Orcs Royal Space Administration during what later became known as the New Colonization Era. Initial colony facilities consisted of simple rudimentary biosphere colony structures until the atmosphere reached livable conditions. It didn't take long for the highly efficient colonization process, already mastered by the UO on Aldaain, to reshape the world. The first non-biosphere city to be established by colonists along with a heavily autonomous construction force was the Capital City, also known as Tooled Hemmo Alpha.

Following the declaration of independence of the Tooled Hemmo system from Tooled Hemmo III, all planets in the system were placed under a blockade by several IHSF subfleets and a martial law declared by the planetary administrators, who remained loyal to the Hemmoian Federation, unlike the administration of Tooled Hemmo II and III. The situation remained tense but no hostilities ensued initially, as the Rebellion's leaders were still hoping for a peaceful secession similar to the foundation of the Independent Hypersentiences. This changed with the Damogran Incident, when the planetary defenses of Tooled Hemmo III were forced to fire upon the IHSF blockade fleets. Open rebellion flared all around Tooled Hemmo I.
While in several cities, including Klekarirtan, the rebels succeeded in overthrowing the internal security forces, the capital of Unity City remained under the control of HFed loyalists. Subsequently, several divisions of Hemmoian Clone Army forces landed on the planet to hold the city against Rebellion guerrillas. The bloody period of urban combat became known as the Siege of Unity City and took 32 rotations. Heavy civilian casualties were reported throughout the Siege.
The Siege finally ended when Rebellion forces achieved space superiority in the Tooled Hemmo system, cutting the city's supply lines and forcing the remaining HFed forces to surrender. The city was subsequently renamed Freedom to reflect the ideals of the newly founded Democratic Hemmoian Republic.
The planet underwent heavy restoration efforts after the Civil War; the capital city in particular was left in ruins.
Today
Today, Tooled Hemmo I is once again a thriving colony world, one of the best developed in the entire Republic.
